If you’re heading to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, or even planning a Disney Cruise, you need Minnie ears. They’re the ultimate accessory for park days and character photos. But did you know you can DIY Minnie ears at home for a fraction of the cost and completely customise them to match your outfits or favourite characters?
In this tutorial, I’ll walk you through step-by-step instructions to make your own Minnie ears. This is the same method I shared in my Instagram reel over on @neversayneverland_adventures but here you’ll find the full details plus links to everything you’ll need.

Why DIY Minnie Ears?
- Save money – official Disney ears can cost £30+, while DIY versions can be made for under £10.
- Match your style – use fabric that matches your Disneybounding, a favourite holiday (Halloween/Christmas), or even your child’s costume.
- Fun for families – crafting Minnie ears together is a great pre-trip activity to build excitement.

Step-by-Step: How to DIY Minnie Ears

- Make Your Ear Templates
Draw two identical circles on cardboard or foam, then cut them out.
- Cut Fabric Pieces
Use your templates to cut four fabric circles (slightly larger than the ear template).
- Build Your Ears
Glue fabric around each cardboard circle, leaving a gap. Add stuffing to make them plump, then seal shut. Repeat for both ears.
- Attach to Headband
Glue your ears evenly onto the headband (measure so they line up perfectly).
- Add the Bow
If using a pre-made sequined bow, glue it between your ears. If you’re making your own, cut a rectangle of fabric, pinch in the middle, and tie with ribbon before gluing it on.
- Personalise with Pixie Dust
Add sequins, rhinestones, charms, or even small pins to match your favourite Disney theme.
Extra Tips
- Use a soft headband so you can wear your ears comfortably all day in the parks.
- Try themed designs: Christmas Minnie ears, Halloween Minnie ears, Princess ears, or even cruise-inspired ears.
- Craft a pair for your child to wear – it’s a fun way to get kids involved in the countdown to your Disney trip.
