1. Personalised Autograph Books - a Creative Way to Save Money at Walt Disney World

Meeting characters is top of the list for little ones, and collecting autographs just makes it more magical. But official autograph books? Around $30 / £26 each. Ouch. That adds up fast if you have more than one child!

Our solution: DIY personalised autograph books. I grabbed a pack of A6 blank notebooks for £3 from Temu (similar ones on Amazon – A6 notebook) and let the kids get creative with leftover Cricut vinyl. Each book had their name and favourite character on the cover – and the kids loved it.

💰 Money saved: Around £23 per book
Extra magic: A fun pre-holiday bonding activity that also helps neurodiverse kids get excited without feeling overwhelmed.

2. Save Money at Walt Disney World with Free Drinks and DIY Water Bottles

Reusable Water Bottles for Walt Disney World

Water in the parks can cost up to $6 a bottle. For a family of four, that’s a small fortune over a day. But here’s the hack: ask for free iced water at any quick-service spot.

We go one step further and bring our own water bottles, filling them up from cups of free iced water. Bonus hack: a tiny squirt of squash/cordial makes it more appealing for kids. Even better  – if you’ve been enjoying any of the all-you-care-to-eat meals, you can fill your bottles with leftover fruit juice, which is already included in the price. Instant hydration and a tasty twist!

We even personalised our water bottles with Cricut vinyl – because who doesn’t love a bit of magic on the go?

💰 Money saved: If we would normally spend $72/£54 on water, four DIY bottles at £12 save around £42!

3. Savvy Pin Collecting: Trade Smart and Save Big

Pin collecting is a huge hit in our family, but $15 a pin? That can add up faster than you can say “Mickey ears.”

Tip: check resale sites like Vinted for pin bundles. We got 10 pins for £18 – around £1.80 each – compared to $150/£112.50 if we’d bought them in the park. Make sure to check the back for the official Walt Disney World trading logo so you can still trade them.

💡 Extra tip: Go for the “ugly” pins – the ones you don’t mind trading – and watch your collection grow.

4. Bring Your Own Snacks to Save Money at Walt Disney World

Disney snacks are delicious, but pricey. Bringing your own personalised snack boxes is a lifesaver – for picky eaters, neurodiverse kids, or just anyone who wants a little nibble on the go.

We use small craft storage boxes (£4) and Cricut vinyl for a personal touch. Pack multi-packs of fruit, treats from home, or even snacks for the flight. It keeps the “are we there yet?” tantrums at bay and saves a fortune.

💰 Money saved: Easily £20–£50 per day for a family of four. Disney allows outside food in the parks (official policy here)

5. DIY Minnie Ears - Magical Style Without the Price Tag

Matching Minnie ears are adorable and expensive. Starting at £35 a pair, a full matching set can break the bank. So, we made our own.

We recycled old Disney clothes, used plain hairbands (£3 for 10 – Temu), cotton wool or foam pads (£4), pompom trim (79p), and glitter bows (£1). The result? Totally unique ears that match our outfits and don’t cost a fortune.

💰 Money saved: Around £25 per pair
Extra magic: Completely one-of-a-kind, personalised Minnie ears
